Answer: EPDM is specifically formulated to resist degradation from UV rays and ozone. Standard rubbers often become brittle and crack when exposed to the sun, but EPDM retains its physical properties and sealing capabilities for years in outdoor settings.

Question 2: What does the Shore A hardness rating mean for my seal?
Answer: Shore A refers to the hardness of the material. A 50 Shore A ring is softer and easier to compress, making it ideal for low pressure or thin metal housings. A 90 Shore A ring is much harder and offers better resistance to high pressure and extrusion.

Question 3: Can I use these O rings in a car engine for oil sealing?
Answer: No. EPDM is not compatible with petroleum based oils or fuels. For oil contact applications, Nitrile or Fluoroelastomer materials are recommended.
